Skin Care For All Seasons
|
Has it been a dilemma on what to use on your skin when progressing from summer in to fall? Is your T zone more of an issue in July than December? Letīs look at how to baby your skin by season
SUMMER Oiliness increases for practically everyone, and now may be the time that those with overactive T-zones find that they will require different products for various areas of the face. While not an easy or practical choice, that may sometimes be the only way to achieve the desired effects for your skin. Sun protection continues to be a high priority. Areas that have been protected all year long are now seeing the sun for the first time in months. They will be more vulnerable to sun damage. Donīt forget about your children at the pool this season. Prevention of sunburn will go a long way to enhancing their overall health in years to come. Season Specific Concerns: The bugs are biting! The use of products like Off! or Cutter can help cut down on biting bugs like mosquitoes and flies.
AUTUMN Thereīs something alive in the air with the cool crisp breezes and the beauty of the changing colors. However, the skin typically finds October to be problematic. Not only does the skin start to develop patchy dryness, but a variety of skin diseases from eczema and psoriasis to seborrhea and pityriasis rosea start to flare. Keep this in mind if you are prone to certain chronic skin conditions that have a seasonal basis and stock up on your skin care products in advance. Preparation early on can help nip some of these flares in the bud! Letīs not forget about hay fever season! Fall brings an onslaught of red, itchy, swollen eyelids into the office. While there are certainly a variety of causes for this condition, seasonal pollen allergies are quite high on the list at this time of year. For those who already have a history of this, keep your topical cortisone and your oral antihistamine on hand.
WINTER Itīs cold, itīs dry and itīs windy outside. Your skin is going to be difficult to deal with at this time of year. You may find that what you could use yesterday just doesnīt seem to be right for you today. Remember that flexibility is key at this time of year. Extremely irritated skin can crop up quite fast Keep some extra heavy duty moisturizing cream on hand to handle those problematic areas whenever necessary.
SPRING Spring is the rebirth of the world and should be for your dried out winterized skin as well. In the spring, your skin will still initially be sensitive from the extremes of cold and wind. Selecting products that continue to add moisture back yet arenīt too irritating or occlusive are key. Upping your sun protection proves to be of utmost importance as well. Regaining a fresh rejuvenated look will compliment your new wardrobe better than any pair of shoes!
